Bangladesh Secures $335 Million Chinese Loan For Mongla Port Expansion

Bangladesh has signed a concessional loan agreement worth approximately USD 335.78 million with China to expand and modernise its second-largest seaport, Mongla Port. The funding, provided by the Export-Import Bank of China at a 2 per cent interest rate over 20 years, will be used to construct two container terminals and dedicated cargo-handling yards. This expansion aims to significantly increase the port's capacity and improve its infrastructure.

बांग्लादेश ने अपने दूसरे सबसे बड़े बंदरगाह, मोंगला पोर्ट के विस्तार और आधुनिकीकरण के लिए चीन के साथ लगभग 335.78 मिलियन अमेरिकी डॉलर के रियायती ऋण समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए हैं। एक्सपोर्ट-इंपोर्ट बैंक ऑफ चाइना द्वारा 20 वर्षों के लिए 2 प्रतिशत ब्याज दर पर प्रदान की गई यह फंडिंग, दो कंटेनर टर्मिनल और समर्पित कार्गो-हैंडलिंग यार्ड के निर्माण के लिए उपयोग की जाएगी। इस विस्तार का उद्देश्य बंदरगाह की क्षमता को काफी बढ़ाना और इसके बुनियादी ढांचे में सुधार करना है।
