NCERT Adds Personal Finance Chapter to 9th Grade Social Science Textbook

NCERT has introduced a new chapter on personal finance in the 9th-grade Social Science textbook, 'Understanding Society: India and Beyond'. This chapter aims to equip students with essential financial literacy skills, covering topics like income, budgeting, saving, investment, and risk management. Students will learn about financial instruments such as EMIs, Fixed Deposits, and Mutual Funds. Economist Sanjeev Sanyal highlighted that the chapter presents risk-taking and business as positive activities, a shift from previous portrayals. The goal is to familiarize students with financial concepts and the consequences of financial decisions.

NCERT ने 9वीं कक्षा की सामाजिक विज्ञान की किताब 'Understanding Society: India and Beyond' में पर्सनल फाइनेंस का एक नया चैप्टर जोड़ा है। इस चैप्टर का मकसद छात्रों को ज़रूरी वित्तीय साक्षरता कौशल से लैस करना है, जिसमें आय, बजट बनाना, बचत, निवेश और जोखिम प्रबंधन जैसे विषय शामिल हैं। छात्र EMI, फिक्स्ड डिपॉजिट और म्यूचुअल फंड जैसे वित्तीय साधनों के बारे में जानेंगे। अर्थशास्त्री संजीव सान्याल ने बताया कि यह चैप्टर जोखिम लेना और व्यवसाय को सकारात्मक गतिविधियों के रूप में प्रस्तुत करता है, जो पिछले चित्रणों से एक बदलाव है। इसका लक्ष्य छात्रों को वित्तीय अवधारणाओं और वित्तीय निर्णयों के परिणामों से परिचित कराना है।
