Southeast Asian nations are reconsidering nuclear power due to rising electricity demand, energy security concerns, and climate commitments. Despite past caution following the Fukushima disaster, new plans are emerging. Vietnam aims for nuclear operation by 2035, Indonesia targets 2032, and the Philippines also plans capacity from 2032. Thailand proposes its first small modular reactor in 2037, while Malaysia and Singapore are studying options.
