Income Tax Notice Possible For Rs 60,000 Deposits If Source Unexplained
TV9 Hindi · india
The Income Tax Department can issue notices for unexplained deposits as low as Rs 60,000, not just large sums. Under Section 102 of the Income Tax Act, authorities have the right to question the source of funds entering bank accounts. Even if UPI transactions don't automatically trigger a notice, a significant mismatch between declared income and account deposits can lead to scrutiny. Banks report cash deposits over Rs 10 lakh in savings or Rs 50 lakh in current accounts, but digital transaction limits are not directly linked to tax reporting.
