Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) intensified their selloff in Indian equities during the latter half of September, with financial services bearing the brunt of the outflow. They offloaded Rs 6,943 crore worth of financial stocks, following a Rs 6,204 crore sale in the first half. The escalating Middle East conflict also prompted FIIs to sell Rs 4,469 crore in oil, gas, and consumable fuel stocks. Automobile, auto components, telecom, metals, consumer durables, and capital goods sectors also witnessed significant FII selling, indicating a broad-based cautious approach by foreign investors.
