Sri Lanka's economy has shown remarkable resilience against multiple shocks, with economic activity growing by 4.2 per cent in the second quarter of 2026, the International Monetary Fund reported. This marks the eleventh consecutive quarter of strong economic expansion. Despite a rise in inflation to 8 per cent in August due to global oil prices, expectations remain anchored, and gross official reserves increased to US$6.9 billion by end-August 2026. Banks are well-capitalised and profitable.

श्रीलंका की अर्थव्यवस्था कई झटकों के बावजूद काफी मजबूत दिखी है। IMF की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, 2026 की दूसरी तिमाही में आर्थिक गतिविधि 4.2% बढ़ी। यह लगातार ग्यारहवीं तिमाही है जब अर्थव्यवस्था में अच्छी बढ़ोतरी हुई है। हालांकि, वैश्विक तेल कीमतों के कारण अगस्त में महंगाई 8% तक पहुंच गई, पर उम्मीदें कायम हैं। अगस्त 2026 के अंत तक सरकारी भंडार बढ़कर 6.9 अरब अमेरिकी डॉलर हो गया। बैंक भी अच्छी स्थिति में हैं और मुनाफा कमा रहे हैं।
