Indian Veterinary Research Institute Interns Demand Rs 25,000 Monthly Stipend

Over 100 BVSc & AH students at the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) in Izzatnagar protested on Tuesday, demanding a significant increase in their internship stipend. They currently receive Rs 3,000 per month for only six months, despite a mandatory 12-month internship. The students are seeking Rs 25,000 per month for the entire duration and greater transparency in stipend allocation and payment. They also highlighted a disparity compared to other veterinary institutions. The protest is not intended to disrupt essential veterinary services.

इज़्ज़तनगर स्थित इंडियन वेटरनरी रिसर्च इंस्टीट्यूट (IVRI) में 100 से ज़्यादा BVSc & AH के छात्रों ने मंगलवार को अपना इंटर्नशिप स्टाइपेंड बढ़ाने की मांग को लेकर प्रदर्शन किया। उन्हें अभी हर महीने सिर्फ ₹3,000 मिलते हैं, वो भी केवल छह महीने के लिए, जबकि इंटर्नशिप 12 महीने की अनिवार्य है। छात्र पूरे समय के लिए ₹25,000 प्रति माह और स्टाइपेंड के आवंटन और भुगतान में ज़्यादा पारदर्शिता की मांग कर रहे हैं। उन्होंने अन्य पशु चिकित्सा संस्थानों की तुलना में असमानता को भी उजागर किया। विरोध का उद्देश्य आवश्यक पशु चिकित्सा सेवाओं को बाधित करना नहीं है।
