CAG Flags ₹80 Crore Trade Using Scrapped, Stolen Vehicles Under GST E-way Bill System

CAG has identified significant irregularities in Odisha's e-way bill system under GST. The audit revealed that e-way bills worth ₹80.30 crore were generated using suspicious vehicles, including those reported stolen, scrapped, or surrendered. Furthermore, the system allowed multiple e-way bills for the same vehicle across different states on the same day. These loopholes pose a risk of tax evasion and revenue leakage. The CAG recommended better integration with the Vahan database and strengthened verification mechanisms to prevent misuse.

ने ओडिशा के GST ई-वे बिल सिस्टम में बड़ी गड़बड़ियां पकड़ी हैं। ऑडिट में पता चला कि ₹80.30 करोड़ के ई-वे बिल ऐसी संदिग्ध गाड़ियों से बनाए गए थे जो चोरी की, कबाड़ी हो चुकीं या सरेंडर की हुई थीं। इतना ही नहीं, सिस्टम ने एक ही गाड़ी के लिए अलग-अलग राज्यों में एक ही दिन में कई ई-वे बिल बनाने की इजाज़त दी। इन कमियों से टैक्स चोरी और सरकारी राजस्व को नुकसान का खतरा है। CAG ने Vahan डेटाबेस के साथ बेहतर तालमेल और जांच के पुख्ता इंतजाम करने की सलाह दी है ताकि इसका गलत इस्तेमाल रोका जा सके।
