India's Stock Market Sees Investor Exodus Amidst Strong IPO Investment
Times of India · stocks
Despite a significant stock market crash, with the Sensex down nearly 16% from its peak, India's primary market is experiencing robust investor interest. Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) invested $1 billion in IPOs in September while selling $4.8 billion in listed equities. This trend continued in the first nine months of 2026, with FPIs pouring $5.9 billion into the primary market versus pulling out $33.7 billion from listed stocks. Retail investors also show a similar shift, investing more in IPOs than in listed shares.
