A close friend testified in a Virginia court that Naresh Bhatt physically abused and financially controlled his wife, Mamta Kafle Bhatt, in the months before her July 2024 disappearance. The friend recounted an incident where Naresh allegedly caused a bruise on Mamta's face, forcing her to reschedule a family ceremony. Mamta's mother also testified, describing the sudden halt of their daily conversations, which prompted her to travel from Nepal to search for her daughter. Mamta, a nurse and green card holder, vanished from their Manassas Park home.
