Study: 1 in 13 Adults Under 30 Have Hidden Artery Plaque

Times of India · health

A new study reveals that silent artery plaque, known as atherosclerosis, can begin developing in adults before the age of 30. Researchers analyzed over 16,800 adults and found that 57.1 percent had some level of plaque. Strikingly, approximately 1 in 13 individuals aged 18 to 29 showed detectable plaque buildup. Current risk assessment tools often miss this early-stage damage, as they rely on estimations rather than direct internal observation. Experts suggest new imaging technologies could improve early detection and prevention strategies for cardiovascular disease.
