Tamil Nadu Byelections See Ruling TVK Party Secure Two Reserved Seats

The Hindu · india

Tamil Nadu's ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party has won byelections in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly constituencies, both reserved for Scheduled Castes. These victories follow a period of significant political shifts in the state, including defections from the AIADMK to the TVK after the Chief Minister's assumption of office. The results were largely anticipated, as byelections in the state typically favor the ruling party. Despite the TVK not securing a majority in the previous general election, their win in these reserved seats reinforces their political standing.
