MHADA Act Amendment to Speed Up Mumbai Redevelopment

Maharashtra's legislature has revived Section 79A of the MHADA Act to expedite the redevelopment of thousands of ageing and unsafe buildings in Mumbai. The amendment clarifies the authority for issuing notices and empowers tenants to initiate redevelopment if landlords fail to act. This move aims to address the critical issue of dilapidated structures posing a risk to residents.

महाराष्ट्र की विधानसभा ने मुंबई की हज़ारों पुरानी और असुरक्षित इमारतों के पुनर्निर्माण को तेज़ करने के लिए MHADA एक्ट की धारा 79A को फिर से लागू कर दिया है। इस बदलाव से नोटिस जारी करने का अधिकार स्पष्ट हो गया है और अगर मकान मालिक कार्रवाई नहीं करते हैं तो किरायेदारों को पुनर्निर्माण शुरू करने की शक्ति मिल गई है। इस कदम का मकसद जर्जर इमारतों के गंभीर मुद्दे को हल करना है जो निवासियों के लिए खतरा पैदा कर रही हैं।
