Rs 32,000 Crore Greenfield Highway to Link Tribal ASR Belt with Amaravati

The Centre has approved a new greenfield national highway project connecting Kharagpur in West Bengal to Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh. This 1,107 km highway will cover approximately 200 km within the Alluri Sitarama Raju district, passing through several tribal and agency areas. The Andhra Pradesh portion alone is estimated to cost Rs 32,000 crore, with the total project exceeding Rs 72,000 crore. This new route aims to provide a faster alternative to the congested Kolkata-Chennai highway and improve connectivity across remote regions.

केंद्र ने पश्चिम बंगाल के खड़गपुर को आंध्र प्रदेश के अमरावती से जोड़ने वाली एक नई ग्रीनफील्ड राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग परियोजना को मंजूरी दे दी है। यह 1,107 किमी लंबा हाईवे, जिसमें से लगभग 200 किमी अल्लाूरी सीताराम राजू जिले के भीतर पड़ेगा, कई आदिवासी और एजेंसी क्षेत्रों से होकर गुजरेगा। अकेले आंध्र प्रदेश वाले हिस्से की लागत ₹32,000 करोड़ अनुमानित है, जबकि पूरे प्रोजेक्ट का खर्च ₹72,000 करोड़ से अधिक होगा। इस नए मार्ग का उद्देश्य व्यस्त कोलकाता-चेन्नई हाईवे का एक तेज़ विकल्प प्रदान करना और दूरदराज के क्षेत्रों में कनेक्टिविटी में सुधार करना है।
