Family Battles Unkept Promises After PhD Scholar's Electrocution Death

A PhD scholar, Jyoti, who was pursuing her studies on scholarship, was found dead on the Panjab University campus, apparently electrocuted by an open feeder box. Nearly 10 weeks later, her family is still struggling to receive promised compensation and employment. Her family, who made significant financial sacrifices for her education, has only received Rs 5 lakh of the announced assistance. They report facing unkept promises and dismissive responses from university officials while grappling with grief and debt.

स्कॉलरशिप पर पढ़ाई कर रही पीएचडी छात्रा ज्योति की पंजाब यूनिवर्सिटी कैंपस में एक खुले फीडर बॉक्स से बिजली का झटका लगने से मौत हो गई थी। करीब 10 हफ्ते बाद भी उसका परिवार वादे के मुताबिक मुआवजा और नौकरी पाने के लिए संघर्ष कर रहा है। उसकी शिक्षा के लिए काफी आर्थिक त्याग करने वाले परिवार को घोषित सहायता में से केवल 5 लाख रुपये ही मिले हैं। वे दुख और कर्ज से जूझते हुए विश्वविद्यालय के अधिकारियों से टूटे वादों और टालमटोल वाले जवाबों का सामना करने की बात कह रहे हैं।
