Uttar Pradesh has declared October 23 and October 27 as dry days, prohibiting the sale and service of alcohol across the state. This measure is in place for the Legislative Council (MLC) elections, ensuring the peaceful conduct of polling and vote counting. The restrictions apply to all liquor shops, bars, clubs, hotels, and restaurants, including those serving bhang and toddy. Even canteens operated by armed and paramilitary forces are covered. Violators will face strict legal action, and traders will not receive compensation for business losses.
