Centre Proposes Expanding Drug Import Gateways To Speed Up Clearance

The Union Health Ministry has proposed expanding the network of authorised import gateways for drugs, medical devices, and cosmetics. This expansion aims to facilitate faster clearance and improve supply chain efficiency by adding several inland container depots, a special economic zone, and an international airport. The proposed amendment to the Drugs Rules, 1945, seeks to include additional entry points in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, and Karnataka. This move is expected to reduce inland transportation distances, logistics costs, and minimise delays in the movement of essential medical products.

स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय ने दवाओं, मेडिकल उपकरणों और सौंदर्य प्रसाधनों के लिए अधिकृत आयात गेटवे के नेटवर्क को बढ़ाने का प्रस्ताव दिया है। इस विस्तार का मकसद कई इनलैंड कंटेनर डिपो, एक स्पेशल इकोनॉमिक ज़ोन और एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे को जोड़कर तेजी से मंजूरी दिलाना और सप्लाई चेन को बेहतर बनाना है। ड्रग्स रूल्स, 1945 में प्रस्तावित संशोधन के तहत हरियाणा, उत्तर प्रदेश, गुजरात, तेलंगाना और कर्नाटक में अतिरिक्त प्रवेश बिंदुओं को शामिल करने की मांग की गई है। इस कदम से इनलैंड परिवहन की दूरी, लॉजिस्टिक्स लागत कम होने और ज़रूरी मेडिकल उत्पादों की आवाजाही में देरी कम होने की उम्मीद है।
