CJI Surya Kant Declines Opposition Meet Over Poll Issues

Chief Justice of India Surya Kant has refused a meeting with Opposition leaders, citing judicial propriety and the pendency of related matters before the Supreme Court. The Opposition, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, had sought to meet the CJI to discuss concerns over electoral processes and alleged irregularities. They also planned to raise issues regarding police action against protesters and the composition of the Election Commission appointment committee. The CJI's refusal is a setback to the Opposition's efforts to seek judicial intervention on these matters.

भारत के मुख्य न्यायाधीश सूर्यकांत ने न्यायिक औचित्य और सुप्रीम कोर्ट के समक्ष लंबित संबंधित मामलों का हवाला देते हुए विपक्षी नेताओं के साथ बैठक करने से इनकार कर दिया है। कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष मल्लिकार्जुन खड़गे और राहुल गांधी सहित विपक्ष ने चुनावी प्रक्रियाओं और कथित अनियमितताओं पर चिंताओं पर चर्चा करने के लिए सीजेआई से मिलने की मांग की थी। उन्होंने विरोध प्रदर्शनों के खिलाफ पुलिस कार्रवाई और चुनाव आयोग की नियुक्ति समिति की संरचना के संबंध में मुद्दों को उठाने की भी योजना बनाई थी। सीजेआई का इनकार इन मामलों में न्यायिक हस्तक्षेप की तलाश के विपक्ष के प्रयासों को एक झटका है।
