Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann alleged he was detained at Delhi airport for two hours upon returning from France. Officials reportedly told him they were "under pressure from above" and demanded an arbitrary ₹50,000 challan, despite finding nothing objectionable in his belongings. Mann claimed this was political retaliation by the BJP-led Centre, citing denial of permission for his France visit and linking the Customs head at Delhi airport to the Chief Election Commissioner. The Punjab Assembly subsequently passed a resolution seeking an independent probe into the Election Commission's functioning.

पंजाब के मुख्यमंत्री भगवंत मान ने आरोप लगाया है कि फ्रांस से लौटने पर उन्हें दिल्ली एयरपोर्ट पर दो घंटे तक रोका गया। अधिकारियों ने कथित तौर पर कहा कि वे "ऊपर से दबाव में" थे और उनके सामान में कुछ भी आपत्तिजनक न मिलने के बावजूद ₹50,000 का मनमाना चालान मांगा। मान ने दावा किया कि यह भाजपा-नीत केंद्र सरकार की ओर से राजनीतिक प्रतिशोध है, उन्होंने अपनी फ्रांस यात्रा की अनुमति से इनकार करने का हवाला दिया और दिल्ली एयरपोर्ट पर कस्टम प्रमुख को मुख्य चुनाव आयुक्त से जोड़ा। इसके बाद पंजाब विधानसभा ने चुनाव आयोग के कामकाज की स्वतंत्र जांच की मांग करते हुए एक प्रस्ताव पारित किया।
