The Supreme Court has refused to stay a corruption FIR linked to the Punjab Chief Minister's office but has restrained the CBI from taking coercive steps. A bench of Justices M M Sundresh and Prasanna B Varale issued notice to the CBI on the Punjab government's petition challenging the High Court's direction to register the case. The apex court's order allows the CBI to continue its investigation but prohibits arrests without court approval. The FIR concerns alleged corruption and influence-peddling involving the CM's Officer on Special Duty and five others.
