Senegalese police have dismantled a symbolic separatist rebel base in the southern Casamance region, arresting 30 individuals. The operation targeted the headquarters of the Casamance Movement of Democratic Forces (MFDC), which has been fighting for independence since 1982. The Casamance region, largely separated from the rest of Senegal by The Gambia, has seen a nearly 44-year-old rebellion. Mobile phones, documents, and flags were seized during the operation, which was reportedly carried out by the army and gendarmerie.
