Mumbai Suburban Rail Hit By Twin Disruptions; 80 Services Cancelled
Times of India · india
Mumbai's Central Railway services faced significant disruptions on Monday due to a fire in a signalling hut at Kanjurmarg, which disabled approximately 24 signals across six lines. This incident, coupled with a wire snag affecting overhead equipment between Mulund and Thane, led to the cancellation of 80 local services. Commuters experienced lengthy delays, with some stranded for up to 90 minutes. The disruptions impacted both Main and Harbour lines, causing cascading delays for long-distance trains as well. Normal signalling operations were gradually restored throughout the afternoon and evening.
