Garbage Dumping Persists Along Doon Rivers Despite Administration's Crackdown

Despite intensified enforcement and directives from the district administration, garbage continues to be dumped along rivers and streams in Dehradun. A spot check revealed plastic and household waste along stretches of the Bindal and Rispana rivers, with residents reporting ongoing dumping by traders. The district magistrate had ordered urban local bodies to identify illegal sites, fix responsibility, and register FIRs. Officials are also considering trash screens and nets to intercept waste before it reaches the rivers, with a pilot project planned for the Rispana.

जिला प्रशासन के कड़े रुख और निर्देशों के बावजूद देहरादून की नदियों और नालों में कूड़ा फेंका जा रहा है। एक मौके पर जांच में बिंदल और रिस्पना नदियों के किनारे प्लास्टिक और घरेलू कचरा मिला। स्थानीय लोगों ने बताया कि व्यापारी लगातार कूड़ा फेंक रहे हैं। जिला मजिस्ट्रेट ने शहरी स्थानीय निकायों को अवैध जगहों की पहचान करने, जिम्मेदारी तय करने और एफआईआर दर्ज करने का आदेश दिया था। अधिकारी नदियों में कचरा पहुंचने से पहले उसे रोकने के लिए ट्रैश स्क्रीन और जाल लगाने पर भी विचार कर रहे हैं, जिसके लिए रिस्पना में एक पायलट प्रोजेक्ट की योजना है।
