Tamil Nadu Minister Defends State's Economic Performance Amid GST Revenue Criticism

Tamil Nadu's Commercial Taxes Minister, D. Logesh Tamilselvan, stated that assessing the state's economic performance solely on gross GST revenue is incorrect. He explained that gross collections include SGST, CGST, and IGST, with IGST amounts attributable to other states. Tamil Nadu's actual GST revenue comprises SGST and apportioned IGST settlements. The Minister highlighted that despite GST rate rationalisation reducing taxes on some commodities, the state's actual GST revenue grew by 15% up to October this financial year, with 8% growth in October alone.

तमिलनाडु के वाणिज्यिक कर मंत्री, डी. लॉकेश तमिलसेल्वन ने कहा कि राज्य के आर्थिक प्रदर्शन का आकलन केवल सकल जीएसटी राजस्व के आधार पर करना गलत है। उन्होंने समझाया कि सकल संग्रह में एसजीएसटी, सीजीएसटी और आईजीएसटी शामिल हैं, जिसमें आईजीएसटी की राशि अन्य राज्यों के लिए जिम्मेदार है। तमिलनाडु के वास्तविक जीएसटी राजस्व में एसजीएसटी और आवंटित आईजीएसटी निपटान शामिल हैं। मंत्री ने इस बात पर प्रकाश डाला कि कुछ वस्तुओं पर जीएसटी दर युक्तिकरण के कारण करों में कमी के बावजूद, राज्य के वास्तविक जीएसटी राजस्व में इस वित्तीय वर्ष के अक्टूबर तक 15% की वृद्धि हुई, जिसमें अकेले अक्टूबर में 8% की वृद्धि हुई।
