UPI MDR Fee Implementation Postponed To After Diwali

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has postponed the implementation of Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) charges on select Person-to-Merchant (P2M) UPI transactions. Initially slated for October 15, the decision was made by the UPI and Services Steering Committee, considering the festive season. The MDR charges will now be implemented immediately after Diwali, with the exact date to be notified separately. This means UPI transactions above ₹2,000 will remain free for approximately 20 more days.

नेशनल पेमेंट्स कॉरपोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया (NPCI) ने कुछ चुनिंदा पर्सन-टू-मर्चेंट (P2M) UPI ट्रांजैक्शन पर मर्चेंट डिस्काउंट रेट (MDR) शुल्क लागू करने की तारीख आगे बढ़ा दी है। यह फैसला UPI और सर्विसेज स्टीयरिंग कमेटी ने लिया है, क्योंकि त्योहारी सीजन चल रहा है। पहले यह 15 अक्टूबर से लागू होना था। अब MDR शुल्क दिवाली के ठीक बाद लागू होगा, जिसकी सही तारीख अलग से बताई जाएगी। इसका मतलब है कि ₹2,000 से ऊपर के UPI ट्रांजैक्शन करीब 20 दिन और फ्री रहेंगे।
