Jose K Mani flags ESA submission discrepancy

Kerala Congress (M) chairperson Jose K Mani has raised serious concerns over the state government's submission to the Centre regarding ecologically sensitive areas (ESA). He stated that the submitted list, identifying 8,590.69 sq km across 98 villages, incorrectly includes agricultural land. This contrasts with a 2014 committee's recommendation of 8,484.05 sq km, which primarily comprised forest and forest plantation areas. Mani demanded an urgent explanation for the discrepancy and public disclosure of the data.

केरल कांग्रेस (एम) के अध्यक्ष जोस के मणि ने केंद्र को पारिस्थितिक रूप से संवेदनशील क्षेत्रों (ईएसए) के संबंध में राज्य सरकार द्वारा जमा की गई रिपोर्ट पर गंभीर चिंता जताई है। उन्होंने कहा कि 98 गांवों में फैले 8,590.69 वर्ग किमी के क्षेत्र की पहचान करने वाली प्रस्तुत सूची में गलती से कृषि भूमि को भी शामिल किया गया है। यह 2014 की एक समिति की 8,484.05 वर्ग किमी की सिफारिश के विपरीत है, जिसमें मुख्य रूप से जंगल और वन रोपण क्षेत्र शामिल थे। मणि ने इस गड़बड़ी के लिए तत्काल स्पष्टीकरण और डेटा के सार्वजनिक प्रकटीकरण की मांग की है।
