Chandigarh Civic Body Rule Fails To Resolve Longstanding Village Issues
Hindustan Times · india
Five years after Chandigarh's Municipal Corporation took over five village pockets, residents report persistent civic problems including traffic congestion, poor sanitation, and 'lal dora' restrictions. While some improvements like upgraded roads and streetlights are acknowledged, many feel administrative restructuring has brought little tangible relief. Former village heads note that merging distinct villages into single wards has diluted local accountability. Residents desire community centres and public parks, indicating unmet needs despite the shift to MC governance.
