Rahane took over captaincy from Virat Kohli for the remainder of the series. Despite the disastrous start, a depleted Indian squad staged a remarkable comeback to win the series 2-1. Rahane's leadership and strategic approach were crucial in this turnaround, as he admitted to bluffing the Australian team during the challenging campaign.
