News18 Hindi · india

Cyber fraudsters are targeting citizens by impersonating Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state Chief Ministers, using their names and deepfake videos to promote fake government schemes. They lure victims with promises of financial aid, then demand money for taxes, registration fees, or processing charges. In many cases, victims are tricked into revealing UPI PINs or approving payment requests, leading to their bank accounts being emptied. The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre has issued an advisory urging caution against such online advertisements and payment requests.
