The Supreme Court has voiced concern over the hurried relocation of elephants between states, citing one instance where an elephant was moved nearly 3,000 kilometers to Chennai in just five days. A bench noted that such transfers must strictly adhere to legal provisions and prior directives, as the standard process typically takes around 50 days. While the court acknowledged that the elephants had already been moved and might not be sent back, it emphasized that it would have intervened had it been informed of the rushed process earlier.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने राज्यों के बीच हाथियों के जल्दबाजी में किए गए स्थानांतरण पर चिंता जताई है। कोर्ट ने एक ऐसे मामले का जिक्र किया जहां एक हाथी को सिर्फ पांच दिनों में लगभग 3,000 किलोमीटर दूर चेन्नई ले जाया गया। बेंच ने कहा कि ऐसे स्थानांतरण कानूनी प्रावधानों और पिछलीগুলোর का सख्ती से पालन करते हुए होने चाहिए, क्योंकि सामान्य प्रक्रिया में लगभग 50 दिन लगते हैं। कोर्ट ने माना कि हाथी पहले ही स्थानांतरित हो चुके हैं और शायद वापस न भेजे जाएं, लेकिन जोर दिया कि अगर उन्हें इस जल्दबाजी वाली प्रक्रिया के बारे में पहले सूचित किया जाता तो वे हस्तक्षेप करते।
