Lucknow Mayor Seeks Doubled Funds For Civic Needs Amid City Expansion

Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal has requested the Sixth State Finance Commission to double the financial allocation for the Lucknow Municipal Corporation. She cited the city's growth from 310 sq km to 568 sq km, which has increased demands for infrastructure and services. Kharkwal sought Rs 2,184 crore for development and streetlighting, and Rs 5,825.85 crore for water and sewerage projects. She also urged the commission to consider the city's status as state capital and its associated expenses when distributing funds.

लखनऊ की मेयर सुषमा खरकवाल ने छठे राज्य वित्त आयोग से लखनऊ नगर निगम के लिए वित्तीय आवंटन को दोगुना करने का अनुरोध किया है। उन्होंने शहर के 310 वर्ग किमी से बढ़कर 568 वर्ग किमी हो जाने का हवाला दिया, जिससे बुनियादी ढांचे और सेवाओं की मांग बढ़ गई है। खरकवाल ने विकास और स्ट्रीटलाइटिंग के लिए 2,184 करोड़ रुपये और पानी व सीवरेज परियोजनाओं के लिए 5,825.85 करोड़ रुपये मांगे। उन्होंने आयोग से फंड बांटते समय राज्य की राजधानी के रूप में शहर की स्थिति और उससे जुड़े खर्चों पर भी विचार करने का आग्रह किया।
