Gold Fund of Funds Halt New Investments Before Diwali

Business Standard · stocks

Around 17 fund houses, including Mirae Asset, DSP, and Tata Mutual Fund, have temporarily stopped fresh investments in their gold exchange-traded fund (ETF) funds of funds (FoFs). These restrictions, effective October 15 and 16, affect lump-sum purchases, switch-ins, and new SIPs/STPs, though existing plans and redemptions remain unaffected. Experts attribute these curbs to concerns over gold imports, pressure on the rupee, and rising crude oil prices. The suspension aims to manage import costs and dollar outflows, supporting rupee stability.
