Sun Pharma Expansion Not Implemented, TNPCB Tells NGT

The Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board (TNPCB) informed the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd.'s Chengalpattu unit has not implemented its proposed expansion. The unit is operating within its existing permitted capacity of 25.5 tonnes per month. Despite obtaining environmental clearance for increasing production to 134.082 tonnes per month, the company failed to secure the necessary consent to establish or operate for the expansion. A TNPCB inspection confirmed no expansion activities had occurred.

तमिलनाडु प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्ड (TNPCB) ने National Green Tribunal (NGT) को बताया कि Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. की चेंगलपट्टू यूनिट ने अपने प्रस्तावित विस्तार को लागू नहीं किया है। यूनिट मौजूदा 25.5 टन प्रति माह की स्वीकृत क्षमता के भीतर काम कर रही है। उत्पादन को 134.082 टन प्रति माह तक बढ़ाने के लिए पर्यावरण मंजूरी मिलने के बावजूद, कंपनी विस्तार के लिए आवश्यक 'Consent to Establish' या 'Consent to Operate' हासिल करने में विफल रही। TNPCB के निरीक्षण में पुष्टि हुई कि विस्तार संबंधी कोई गतिविधि नहीं हुई है।
