Indian Homecooked Vegetarian Food Costs Rise Sharply
TOI - Lifestyle · lifestyle
The cost of preparing a vegetarian thali at home in India increased by 10% in September compared to the previous year, significantly outpacing the 6% rise for non-vegetarian thalis, according to CRISIL data. The average vegetarian thali cost rose to ₹30.8 from ₹28.1, while the non-vegetarian thali increased to ₹59.5 from ₹56. This surge is largely attributed to a sharp 89% year-on-year increase in onion prices, alongside higher costs for rice, edible oil, and LPG.
