Hindustan Times · health

The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) has launched a statewide crackdown on hospital pharmacies for allegedly charging patients close to the maximum retail price (MRP) for medicines, despite purchasing them at significantly lower costs. Special inspections across 52 hospital pharmacies in 17 districts revealed discrepancies in the pricing chain, prompting FSDA to seek explanations from hospitals, suppliers, and manufacturers. Notices are being issued for potential violations of the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, with further action pending responses.
