Bharathiar University Staff Protest Non-Payment of Diwali Advance to Temporary Workers

The Bharathiar University Employees Union staged a protest against the administration for failing to disburse the Diwali festival advance to contract and temporary employees. The union had previously requested Rs 15,000 for workers, but the registrar cited a need for finance committee approval after the higher education department secretary did not clear it. This comes as permanent workers have already received their Rs 20,000 advance. The union alleges discriminatory treatment and vows to continue protests until their demands are met, noting that the advance was paid regularly in past years.

भारथियार यूनिवर्सिटी कर्मचारी संघ ने अनुबंध और अस्थायी कर्मचारियों को दिवाली त्योहार का एडवांस नहीं देने के लिए प्रशासन के खिलाफ विरोध प्रदर्शन किया। संघ ने पहले श्रमिकों के लिए 15,000 रुपये का अनुरोध किया था, लेकिन रजिस्ट्रार ने कहा कि उच्च शिक्षा विभाग के सचिव द्वारा मंजूरी न मिलने के बाद वित्त समिति की मंजूरी की आवश्यकता है। यह तब हो रहा है जब स्थायी कर्मचारियों को पहले ही उनका 20,000 रुपये का एडवांस मिल चुका है। संघ ने भेदभावपूर्ण व्यवहार का आरोप लगाया है और कहा है कि जब तक उनकी मांगें पूरी नहीं हो जातीं, तब तक विरोध जारी रहेगा, यह भी बताया कि पिछले वर्षों में एडवांस का भुगतान नियमित रूप से किया जाता था।
