Chandigarh Ends EV Subsidy, Keeps Other Incentives

The Chandigarh administration has discontinued the cash subsidy under its Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy, 2022, effective immediately. While cash incentives are ending, other benefits like road tax and registration fee exemptions remain. To qualify for these continuing incentives, consumers must now purchase and register their electric vehicles within Chandigarh. This change reverses a previous rule allowing residents to buy EVs elsewhere and still claim benefits. The policy, aimed at making Chandigarh a "Model EV City," is in effect until September 2027.

चंडीगढ़ प्रशासन ने अपनी इलेक्ट्रिक व्हीकल (EV) पॉलिसी, 2022 के तहत कैश सब्सिडी तुरंत प्रभाव से बंद कर दी है। हालांकि, रोड टैक्स और रजिस्ट्रेशन फीस में छूट जैसे फायदे जारी रहेंगे। इन लाभों के लिए अब ग्राहकों को चंडीगढ़ में ही इलेक्ट्रिक व्हीकल खरीदकर रजिस्टर कराना होगा। यह बदलाव उस पुराने नियम को पलटता है जिसमें बाहर से गाड़ी खरीदकर भी फायदे मिलते थे। यह पॉलिसी सितंबर 2027 तक लागू रहेगी।
