Science Behind Firework Colors: Chemicals Create Red, Green, and Blue Hues
TV9 Hindi · science
The vibrant colors seen in fireworks are a result of chemistry, not magic. When fireworks ignite, heat causes electrons in different elements to absorb energy and jump to higher levels. As they return to their original state, they release this energy as light of specific wavelengths, creating distinct colors. For instance, strontium compounds produce red, barium compounds yield green, and copper compounds generate blue. Creating a deep blue is particularly challenging, requiring precise temperatures around 1200 degrees Celsius.
