India's indigenous Tejas Mk-1A fighter jet program is set to accelerate with the expected delivery of 12 more GE F404 engines by year-end. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited has 27 aircraft airframes ready, with 10 engines already received. The remaining airframes are being flown with test or reserve engines while integration work continues. GE Aerospace has committed to supplying four engines monthly, aiding the goal of inducting a full Tejas Mk-1A squadron by the end of 2026. Engine shortages have been the primary bottleneck for the program.
