अहमदाबाद में बने कई महंगे ओवरब्रिज और अंडरपास, जिनका मकसद ट्रैफिक को आसान बनाना था, असल में जाम और डेड एंड का कारण बन गए हैं। कहा जा रहा है कि अधिकारियों ने जमीन के इस्तेमाल और पहुंच के मुद्दों को सुलझाने के बजाय ग्रांट हासिल करने को प्राथमिकता दी, जिससे बेकार इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर तैयार हुआ। घुमा रेलवे ब्रिज जैसी परियोजनाएं कृषि भूमि वर्गीकरण के कारण अभी भी बेकार पड़ी हैं, जबकि मकरबा ओवरब्रिज जैसे अन्य प्रोजेक्ट्स ने ट्रैफिक को और खराब कर दिया है। पालड़ी जलालाराम अंडरपास उद्घाटन के कुछ ही समय बाद अधूरा काम होने के कारण बंद हो गया, जो सिस्टम की प्लानिंग की खामियों को दिखाता है।
