The northeast monsoon has intensified over Keralam, bringing widespread rainfall, lightning, and gusty winds, particularly along the Western Ghats. Heavy overnight rain on Wednesday caused waterlogging and minor landslips, disrupting normal life. A landslip near Parassala Railway Station in Thiruvananthapuram derailed the locomotive of the Bilaspur-Tirunelveli Superfast Express early Thursday, halting rail traffic. Services were restored by 9:30 a.m. after debris clearance and safety inspections. Mavelikara and Venkurinji recorded the highest rainfall of 14 cm.
