TNPDCL Proposes 63 Paise Surcharge on Industries

The Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Ltd (TNPDCL) has proposed a 63 paise per unit surcharge on high-tension consumers using open access power. This proposal, submitted to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC), aims to recover fixed costs incurred by TNPDCL on unutilised power purchase agreements. The utility estimates stranded costs at ₹180.91 crore for the period October 2025 to March 2026. Stakeholders have to submit their comments on the petition.
