Gastrointestinal cancers, already a significant global health issue, could nearly double in prevalence by 2050, according to specialists at the World Congress of Gastroenterology (WCOG) 2026 in New Delhi. Research presented highlighted that spending at least seven minutes during endoscopy significantly increases the detection rate of gastric cancer and dysplasia. Experts also discussed rising early-onset colorectal cancer cases, India-specific concerns like gallbladder cancer linked to gallstones, and changing patterns in liver disease. The congress explored advancements in technology, including artificial intelligence and advanced endoscopy, for improved diagnosis and treatment.

गैस्ट्रोइंटेस्टाइनल कैंसर, जो पहले से ही एक बड़ा वैश्विक स्वास्थ्य मुद्दा है, 2050 तक लगभग दोगुने हो सकते हैं, ऐसा नई दिल्ली में वर्ल्ड कांग्रेस ऑफ गैस्ट्रोएंटरोलॉजी (WCOG) 2026 के विशेषज्ञों ने बताया है। प्रस्तुत शोध में बताया गया कि एंडोस्कोपी के दौरान कम से कम सात मिनट बिताने से गैस्ट्रिक कैंसर और डिसप्लेसिया का पता लगने की दर काफी बढ़ जाती है। विशेषज्ञों ने शुरुआती कोलोरेक्टल कैंसर के बढ़ते मामलों, पित्त पथरी से जुड़े पित्ताशय के कैंसर जैसी भारत-विशिष्ट चिंताओं और लिवर की बीमारी के बदलते पैटर्न पर भी चर्चा की। कांग्रेस में बेहतर निदान और उपचार के लिए आर्टिफिशियल इंटेलिजेंस और एडवांस्ड एंडोस्कोपी सहित प्रौद्योगिकी में प्रगति की खोज की गई।
