Chile Nursing Home Fire Kills 16 Residents

At least 16 elderly residents died in a devastating fire at the El Edén nursing home in Pitrufquén, Chile. The blaze broke out on Friday evening, approximately 640km south of the capital, Santiago. Ten other residents were evacuated from the facility. The cause of the fire remains unclear, but President José Antonio Kast has ordered a nationwide review of nursing home conditions. The fire was eventually extinguished on Saturday morning.
