Study Finds Undernutrition Among Young Children

A study of 689 children aged one to five years in Ahmedabad hospitals revealed significant rates of undernutrition and severe undernutrition. Approximately 23% of the children screened were found to be undernourished, with a higher prevalence among girls. Many affected children came from low-income families and had low birth weights. Public health experts noted that this aligns with broader findings of malnutrition issues in Gujarat, emphasizing the need for nutritious food access, not just food availability, for proper development.

बच्चों में कुपोषण पर नई स्टडी का खुलासा

अहमदाबाद के अस्पतालों में एक से पांच साल के 689 बच्चों पर हुई स्टडी में कुपोषण और गंभीर कुपोषण की चिंताजनक दरें सामने आई हैं। जांचे गए लगभग 23% बच्चों में कुपोषण पाया गया, जो लड़कियों में ज़्यादा था। प्रभावित बच्चे ज़्यादातर कम आय वाले परिवारों से थे और उनका जन्म के समय वज़न भी कम था। पब्लिक हेल्थ एक्सपर्ट्स ने कहा कि यह गुजरात में कुपोषण की व्यापक समस्याओं से मेल खाता है, और बच्चों के सही विकास के लिए सिर्फ़ खाना नहीं, बल्कि पौष्टिक भोजन की उपलब्धता ज़रूरी है।
