SC Orders EC To Decide TMC Dispute

The Supreme Court has directed the Election Commission to resolve the dispute between rival factions of the All India Trinamool Congress over the party's name and symbol within three months. Both factions must complete their pleadings before the poll panel within four weeks. The court issued this order while hearing a plea challenging the EC's earlier decision to freeze the TMC's name and 'flowers and grass' symbol. This temporary arrangement will apply to upcoming bypolls, with candidates contesting under newly allotted names and symbols.

सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने चुनाव आयोग को तीन महीने के अंदर ऑल इंडिया तृणमूल कांग्रेस के गुटों के बीच पार्टी के नाम और चुनाव चिन्ह को लेकर विवाद सुलझाने का निर्देश दिया है। दोनों गुटों को चार हफ़्ते के अंदर चुनाव आयोग के सामने अपनी दलीलें पूरी करनी होंगी। अदालत ने यह आदेश EC के TMC का नाम और 'फूल और घास' का चुनाव चिन्ह फ्रीज करने के पिछले फ़ैसले को चुनौती देने वाली याचिका पर सुनवाई करते हुए दिया। यह अस्थायी व्यवस्था आगामी उपचुनावों पर लागू होगी, जिसमें उम्मीदवार नए आवंटित नाम और चिन्हों के तहत चुनाव लड़ेंगे।
