Gujarat Bars Outsiders From Govt Schools Without Prior Principal Approval

Hindustan Times · politics

Gujarat has mandated written permission from principals for any outsider to enter government school premises, citing child safety and privacy rights. Visitors must log details and require accompaniment by school officials. Photography or videography involving students or staff is also prohibited without prior written consent from the principal. The state education department stated this is to protect children, referencing child rights guidelines and a Supreme Court verdict. The opposition Congress criticized the move, alleging it's a cover-up for poor school infrastructure and administrative failures.
