Foreign Medical Graduates Protest in Hyderabad for Equal Stipends

The Hindu · india

Around 100 foreign medical graduates (FMGs) protested in Hyderabad, demanding stipends equal to those of Indian medical graduates. They seek ₹29,792 monthly, the amount paid to Indian interns in Telangana. Many FMGs reported receiving as little as ₹5,000 per month or no stipend at all for months, despite performing internship duties. Protesters highlighted the disparity by comparing their low earnings to daily wages earned by labourers. This situation creates significant financial difficulties for interns completing their compulsory training.
