Gajraj Rao: Stardom in India was a train with stars in first AC, actors ticketless
Hindustan Times · entertainment
Actor Gajraj Rao believes streaming platforms have democratised stardom in India, ending a significant class divide. He compared the industry 25-30 years ago to a train where stars occupied the first-class AC bogey, while other actors struggled without tickets in general compartments. Rao noted that the arrival of private TV networks and streaming services has created more berths, allowing actors to gain respect and work. This evolution has also enabled some actors to crossover into star status, blurring lines between film and OTT performers.
