Nashik Minister Orders Water Rationing, Use Treated Wastewater for Construction

Maharashtra Minister Girish Mahajan has directed local bodies in Nashik to implement immediate water rationing due to poor groundwater recharge and insufficient dam stocks. Existing water supply cycles will be widened with additional dry days, and potable water use for construction, gardening, and vehicle washing is now prohibited. Treated wastewater must be utilized for construction and other non-drinking purposes. The minister also advised against Rabi cultivation in drought-hit areas, prioritizing water for drinking and livestock fodder. Unauthorized agricultural water usage from reservoirs will be disconnected.

महाराष्ट्र के मंत्री गिरीश महाजन ने नासिक में स्थानीय निकायों को भूजल पुनर्भरण की खराब स्थिति और बांधों में अपर्याप्त स्टॉक के कारण तत्काल पानी की राशनिंग लागू करने का निर्देश दिया है। मौजूदा जल आपूर्ति चक्रों को अतिरिक्त सूखे दिनों के साथ बढ़ाया जाएगा, और निर्माण, बागवानी और वाहन धोने के लिए पीने योग्य पानी का उपयोग अब प्रतिबंधित है। निर्माण और अन्य गैर-पीने योग्य उद्देश्यों के लिए उपचारित अपशिष्ट जल का उपयोग किया जाना चाहिए। मंत्री ने सूखे से प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में रबी की खेती के खिलाफ भी सलाह दी, पीने और पशुओं के चारे के लिए पानी को प्राथमिकता दी। जलाशयों से अनधिकृत कृषि जल उपयोग को डिस्कनेक्ट कर दिया जाएगा।
